Cellist ANDREI IONITA, hailed by The Times as „one of the most exciting cellists in a decade“, was
born in Bucharest and finished his studies with Prof. Jens Peter Maintz in Berlin. He won the 2015
Tchaikovsky Gold Medal and was selected as a BBC New Generation Artist for the 2016-18 period.
He performs with top orchestras, including the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Chicago Symphony
Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, and the Czech Philharmonic, working together with
renowned conductors Paavo Järvi, Herbert Blomstedt and Susanna Mälkki, to name a few.
